Bio
I have been involved in community service all of my life in my town, as a volunteer, through my jobs and in my church. I take great satisfaction in helping others.
Most recently my public service has increased dramatically as the Chief of Staff for New York State Assemblyman James Skoufis for more than four years. I interact with constituents throughout the 10 towns, in the 99th Assembly District. I maintain overall responsibility for constituent services, helping people deal with a broad spectrum of issues including education, government, health, housing, utilities and many more.
I attend all of the assemblyman’s meetings with constituents and others in his district office. I research legislative issues and discuss his legislation and committee work with other assemblymen, senators and the governor’s office and their staffs. I maintain the assemblyman’s busy calendar, setting up appointments, meetings and activities. I often represent the assemblyman at meetings and special events.
I have served my home town, the Town of Highlands in many ways. I was elected to the Town Board in 2008 and served from January 2009 to December 2011. I was the liaison to the Town Comptroller’s Office, the Town Attorney, the Town Justice Court, the Building Department and the Recreation Department. I negotiated contracts with civil service unions, helped institute town revaluation and was instrumental in obtaining a much needed state audit of town finances.
I was appointed to the Town of Highlands Comprehensive Plan Committee and served from 2006 to 2007. I have been a member of Vision for the Town of Highlands since 2008. Vision works with other organizations to maintain the town’s quality of life.
I also served with the Town of Highland Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the Fort Montgomery Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary.
I took my first job at age 14 for New York State Parks in the Readers Digest Summer Youth Work Program, the first of several jobs in the parks field. I worked as the Office Manager for Rockland Lake & Nyack Beach Parks from August 2001 to December 2004. I administered payroll, time records and personnel files for 130 employees and maintained schedule for park use among other tasks. I was an Administrative Assistant at Bear Mountain State Park from November 1997 to August 2001. I handled payroll and time records for up to 100 employees among other tasks.
I was the Office Manager for Dr. Mark H. Wells, DPM, Suffern, from January 2005 to January 2013 in Suffern. I provided administrative support to the doctor, scheduled his appointments and processed payments among other tasks.
I have been a lector and Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Church in Highland Falls since 2006. I have helped with the food pantry and decorating the altar.
I was born in 1971 in the Cornwall hospital to Jacqueline Tautel, a second generation Italian and a homemaker, and the late Arthur Tautel, a German immigrant who was a tailor. I am dedicated to my family and especially enjoy caring for my niece. I was raised in Fort Montgomery and I graduated from James I. O’Neill High School in Highland Falls. I studied Criminal Justice and Public Administration at Rockland Community College.
